Meyer May House Wikipedia

meyer may house

It is a Prairie style home that was designed for Mr. & Mrs. Meyer May in (circa) 1909. Standing proudly – and quite grandly – in the Heritage Hill Historic District of Grand Rapids, Michigan at 450 N. Madison Avenue, it was the subject of a recent visit by my wife and me. In the context of Wright’s career, it was an expression of ideas that grew bolder over time. In the context of contemporary architecture and design, Wright’s impact is still being defined.

It is carefully sited to allow maximum southern exposure for the living room windows and skylights, and to create a spacious yard for the perennial gardens. Each terrace and art glass window is carefully arranged to bring nature into the house wherever possible. Wright’s characteristic attention to detail and visual unity is particularly apparent inside, where much of the space is defined by built-in cabinetry and geometrically patterned screens. Art glass windows, ceiling panels, and lanterns play off of the gold glass used in the mortar joints of the fireplace to create a completely light-filled space. Significantly altered in 1922, the home fell into decline following Meyer’s death in 1936.

The windows, rugs and other textile finishes, built-ins, grilles, and brass fixtures of the residence exhibit a harmonious continuity that reflect Niedecken’s sophisticated understanding of Wright’s design philosophy. The house is characterized by an overriding luminescence that is the result not only of its abundant fenestration, but also the application of rich materials. The brickwork around the living room fireplace features mortar speckled with golden glass that offers a luxurious contrast to the plaster and brick of Wright’s typical interiors. The dining table, modeled on Wright’s own design for the dining room of his Oak Park Home, includes four piers that support electrified lamps with glass shades ornamented with patterns that echo the abstractions found in the windows and rugs of the house. This 1908 masterpiece of the prairie-style design is the most complete restoration of a Frank Lloyd Wright house in existence. The owners, Steelcase Inc., spared no expense in reproducing in exact detail all furnishings and original grandeur.

Also worthy of note is a pastel mural of hollyhocks rendered by George Niedecken, an “interior architect” who had worked with Wright previously. It was discovered – beneath six layers of paint on a wall separating the dining room from the living room – and lovingly restored. There is no charge to tour the house and view the film, The Renewing of a Vision. The Steelcase and Frank Lloyd Wright connection began in 1936 when Steelcase was contracted to manufacture Wright-designed furniture for the Johnson Wax Administration Building in Racine, Wisconsin.

Commissioned (apparently his first commission in Michigan) by Sophie and Meyer May (a Grand Rapids clothing store owner) in 1908, the home was completed in 1909… only to undergo significant changes over the ensuing decades, not the least of which was the change to a multi-unit rental in the mid ‘60s. Its deterioration had progressed slowly but steadily over the years and the home was in a sad state of disrepair when the Steelcase Company purchased the property in 1985. Wright’s frequent collaborator, and former Studio employee, George Mann Niedecken, supervised and coordinated the interior of the May house.

In 1987 Steelcase fully restored it to Wright’s original design, preserving the house exactly as he intended. It stands today in its original form, exactly as Wright envisioned and intended; it is once again as glorious as anyone could imagine. From the exterior landscaping to the intricate details in the interior, this property is as magnificent as Wright himself would have desired.

Designed for a progressive and prominent Grand Rapids clothier, during the decades after the Meyer May house was completed it changed significantly and deteriorated slowly. Steelcase & Frank Lloyd Wright

The results are a home that feels like it is a Wright project that was commissioned just last year and only recently completed; it represents the beauty and grace of both form and function that Wright himself embraced. And although he may not have approved, the structural steel that has now been added to the building has provided a roof that will never again leak. The clay roof tiles, by the way, were made to original specifications in a special run by the company that had originally manufactured them back in 1909; the one-hundred-plus leaded-glass windows are beyond amazing. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1908 for a prominent Grand Rapids Clothier, the Meyer May House was purchased by Steelcase Inc. in 1985, meticulously restored and opened to the public in 1987. Today, complete with original furnishings and faithfully executed reproductions, the Meyer May house provides the rare opportunity to experience a Prairie house exactly as Frank Lloyd Wright intended. Meticulously, painstakingly and lovingly restored, this home is more than just an excellent example of what Mr. Wright was capable.

In 1985 Steelcase, Inc., the manufacturers of Wright’s Johnson Wax furniture, embarked on a two-year, museum-quality restoration of the home and returned it to its original 1910 condition. The Meyer and Sophie Amberg May house was Wright's first large commission in Michigan and one of only two residential buildings (KT35) in the state, other than resort cottages, from Wright's Prairie house period. The two-story, T-plan residence is situated on the northern edge of the corner lot to take full advantage of the southern light. The shallow-pitched hipped roof covered with red tiles slopes to broad overhangs, emphasizing the horizontality and hovering quality of the house as shelter. Leaded- and colored-glass-accented casement windows and doors open out to terraces and gardens with garden walls and planters, all incorporated in the design to intermingle the interior and the exterior. Wright hired George M. Niedecken of the Milwaukee firm of Niedecken-Walbridge Company to supervise and execute the interior decorative details.

Meyer May (1873–1936) was a prominent merchant who became president of A. The Mays influenced the decision of the David Ambergs, Sophie's parents, to build a Wright house a few blocks away. In 1985 Steelcase, Inc., acquired the May house and accurately and meticulously restored it and the existing original furnishings to museum quality. It won the distinction of a President's Historic Preservation Award for corporate-sponsored preservation in 1988, sponsored by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and the U.S.

In honor of that collaboration, the Meyer May House is owned and maintained by Steelcase today. The Meyer house was purchased by Steelcase in 1985 and has since been masterfully restored.

House Party Guide: Complete Walkthrough, Cheats, Romance & Ending Guides

house party walkthrough

I do not know of a way to trigger it besides the girls being nearby each other. Follow Lety to the Master Bedroom. Create an alternate save recommended. Throw PopperLeah is going to be chasing you after you choose this next option.

House Party Walkthrough Madison – Step 1

Run around the backyard (make sure you hold shift) and you can easily avoid her. Open your inventory and interact with Madison’s Phone, select Light On. On the top shelf is a white Spray Paint Can, take it. If you need to take out the phone flashlight you can do that but it is not required. Stand on the Garage Door side by the Beer Pong Table.

House Party Walkthrough Lety – Step 1

A few characters also have a dialogue you have to choose correctly. You need to be careful she does not see you doing stuff with ANYONE. Talk to her and tell her you want a “change of scenery” and send her upstairs. This will give you enough time before she see’s you. This should initiate the sex scene with Rachael.

house party walkthrough

Leah (Light Path) – Male and Female – Part 1

Talk to her afterwards to get you $50.00 and give it to Frank for some weed. This can be used with the Paper to create a Joint and light it by interacting with the Fire Pit. Rachael Will Come Find YouShe will take you to the backyard on the side of the house, the side with the fire pit. You can speed up the process by standing over here anytime Rachael comes to look for you. Interact with it and choose inspect.

Madison (Betray Derek) – Male and Female

Being the “C-E-Bro” of Neighborhoodwatch dot com made him both, rich and hated (for example by Rachael). As he has a very peaceful character, he is concerned about getting befriended with Rachael again. This route will finish the prank on Ashley. This doesn’t completely ruin your chances with Ashley but it does lock any sex options with her. After everyone is knocked they will turn onto you and start a threesome between you, Rachael and Lety.

Game GrumpsThis route also allows you to get the Game Grumps to the party. There is not a direct romance option with these characters. I will however give you the guide to at least get them to the party. On the vanity there is a Gastronomy book, use the piece of paper with it.

Follow Katherine to the master bedroom, lock the door, give her the sausage and water. Return to where Frank is, in the cabinet with all the alcohol (right hand side of Frank’s chair) there should be an empty bottle of vodka inspect it then ask Frank about it. He will agree to give it to you and you can now take it from the cabinet. Go to the downstairs bathroom (behind the fridge and grab the towel.) Then give the towel to Ashley.

House Party Walkthrough Vickie – Step 1

This will add Money Makers Monthly to your inventory. Derek will head to the laundry room upstairs. You can sit on the dryer but when you talk with him it teleports you on there anyway.

We will focus on one character at a time. Madison Will Talk to YouDepending on what hi-jinks you are up to some characters may not show up to the bedroom for the art show off. Madison will invite everyone up to the bedroom to see it. Head upstairs to the Master Bedroom again and hang around the bedroom door. Derek will then go to the hot tub.

Do not grab anything but the rum. Head to the upstairs bathroom, Frank will be following you. Close the door once you are both in.

Madison will head towards the garage at this point. Do not let her catch you in this next section. I recommend talking to her and asking for a tour of the house.

We will be choosing the Romance options. AshleyAshley has a few different “romance” options. This route will go over the Prank Madison with Vickie route. This will lock the Art Room scene with Madison once completed.

Head to the Master Closet and open the safe in the back, take Madison’s diary.Again make sure Madison doesn’t see you. She will come straight to the closet once you are doing this.Head to the Living Room. On the mantle on the left hand side there is a Mysterious Key. Take this as it locks the Master Bedroom door. Use the piece of paper on the Molecular Gastronomy book, then use the pencil to acquire the code for Madison’s safe, which is in the closet of the master bedroom.

House Party Guide – How to Get Doja Cat into the Party

We are going to be giving some gifts to him to start. The dresser underneath the TV is interact-able, use the dresser with the Dusty Penguin. Next use the Foam Finger, Money Makers Monthly and Dildo with the penguin to create your art piece. In the Kitchen next to the fridge is a trash can, interact with it and select rummage.

Lety – Male and Female – Part 2

The sex scene ends up with them killing you and I won’t spoil how. After the conversation with Frank you need to take your clothes off quickly. If you don’t you will fail and not unlock the sex scene with Leah and Julius Squeezer. Go to Ashley’s Room (Spare room with bunk bed). Use the small key with the Bike Lock on Ashley’s closet.

Derek will then head to Garage so follow him. Derek will then head to the Roof in the backyard. You can get on the roof by looking and the support pillar for the roof where the gutter is. If you select it you can climb to the roof.

Amy (Finish Hunt) Male and Female – Part 2

There is the option to take topless pics of her but we will not be going this route. This is also a route to get the game grumps to the party. This is not required to romance Katherine. Talk to FrankIf you choose the jerk options to Frank he will leave the party forever.

Then talk to her again and say “I think I’ve earned your trust. Your other option is to vouch for Amala. Unfortunately, Madison won’t trust you immediately, so you’re going to have to get on her good side first. After you have finished with Ashley, you can return to her at any time and ask for "another tour of [her] room." After learning of Madison's plan to prank Ashley, Throw Beer On Madison (requires at least one Natty Lite in your inventory).

house party walkthrough

If you aren’t you can ask her to go to her room. This can be completed alongside other stories but it will lock sex with Ashley. Head back to the garage and take the Dusty Penguin. There is a pink dildo underneath her pillow, take that.

House Party Walkthrough – All Routes and Storylines

But like everything else in House Party, there’s a string of prerequisites for getting her to show up. So I’m going to walk you through how to get Doja Cat into your house party. Go upstairs to the master bedroom bathroom, you will see a blue tube of dye beside the sink, grab it. Open your inventory and use it with the red flower. Talk to Patrick about Frank and his bottle wine.

When you ask Derek, he tells you Frank is bisexual. When Frank comes in, he finds out that you do have feelings for him. Then Frank tells you that he went through what you are going through. Frank tells you to follow him onto the side of the house, where he starts performing oral on you. Frank then gives you a condom and tells you if you still like him, he will do it again.

You can have sex with Brittney as long as you do enough “nice” opportunities, these are just some of the more convenient ones. Head to the Laundry and get Ashley’s clothes out of the Dryer. If the aren’t finished just wait for a minute for them to be done. Go to the laundry room across the hall. Use Ashley’s clothes with the Washing Machine.

You can also have sex with her anytime you want by selecting the “sparring outfits” option again. Leah will go hang out with Frank for a while. The next dialogue with her will not appear for a couple minutes while she “bonds” with Frank. There is no way of knowing when the timer for this is over, you just need to talk to her until the option appears. The only negative on either path is the Dark Path. She will force you to have sex randomly no matter where you are.

Madison is hosting this party and knows most of the people via school. She is Ashley’s sister and always trying to pull a prank on her. According to her sister, she wants to be cool and hipster-like therefore is interested in something called “Sky Animals”, a kind of astrology developed by native Americans. Having moved from Nevada, she searched for freedom, but now feels overwhelmed with the entire situation.

This is the only way to have sex with Derek as the Female character. It will not negatively affect your stats with Madison. This does lock out any sex options with Madison but you can still get head from her by pranking Ashley. Head to the Study (where Brittney is) and grab the piece of paper on the table.

Rachael will slap Patrick.Amy will stub her toe in the Living Room and have a conversation with Stephanie about it. These random events may be completely optional (I haven’t seen any negative effects of missing these) but I recommend viewing them anyway to be safe. Once Rachael and Patrick interact they will start a fight.

Plus Size Cruise Dresses Women's Formal Wear for Cruises

plus size clothes for cruise

Opt for breathable fabrics and vibrant prints for various cruise occasions. Enhance your outfits with carefully selected accessories such as scarves, jewelry, or hats, adding flair without compromising luggage space. These are some of the characteristics we looked for when putting together our list of cruise wear.

White Jeans or Linen Pants

It’s a good idea to have at least 2 bathing suits and cover ups for a 7 day cruise, to use when one is wet. These plus size cruise outfits are best for warm weather cruises; Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda and even Mediterranean cruises. If you prefer a little more coverage, this halter top swimdress bathing suit is very flattering. Here’s a simple women’s clothing packing list for a 7 day cruise, to use as a guide.

Seating Throughout The Ship

Some people like to bring more and some people less, so adjust quantities of your favorite items accordingly. Designed to be both fashionable and functional, perfect for any outfit. The unique sleeveless, high-quality lightweight fabric and range of styles make these tops a must-have in your cruise wardrobe.. Available in tons of patterns, this t-shirt dress tunic is flattering, suitable for tropical cruise vacation, and can used as a swimsuit cover up or even a nightgown. Look glam traveling on the high seas wearing cocktail and formal cruise dresses for the special evenings on your cruise vacation. I love jewellery and accessories, I love pulling an outfit together with that stunning piece of jewellery or scarf.

Fabulous Cruise Wear Picks for Plus Size Ladies

Of course, you can add more clothing items or bring less, depending on the length of your cruise. Cocktail dresses are ideal for formal nights or evening entertainment on the cruise. Choose styles that flatter your figure and make you feel confident and gorgeous. When it comes to cruising, having a variety of outfits that are as versatile as they are stylish is key.

The Best Plus-Size Cover-Ups and Casual Beachwear

I always look forward to these evenings, but I know that finding formal cruise dresses for curvy women like us can be a challenge. Fortunately, plus-size swimwear and bathing suits come in a variety of styles, so I can choose something that makes me feel comfortable and confident. I always try to find swimsuits with built-in support and flattering cuts that accentuate your curves. This high low asymmetrical floral dress is so flattering on curvy women. It’s available in both light and dark colors, perfect for an evening chic or elegant nights on a cruise. This short sleeve crochet bathing suit cover up looks perfect over any swimsuit.

If you’d like to see what we got up to every day then see my P&O Iona Norwegian Fjords Cruise post. Thankfully from dining to lounging, you’ll almost always find chairs without arms throughout cruise ships. And fear not, the toilet is far more sturdy than it feels when you sit down on the plastic seat. Remember everything on a cruise ship has a little give, so the odds are quite slim that you’re going to break the toilet. Shirt dresses provide a classic look with a flattering fit, while wrap dresses accentuate the waist for a feminine touch.

Preview chart for the best plus size pants

What makes these women different from others is their ability to use colour, jewellery and accessories to make themselves stand out from the crowd. This sexy tankini style comes with a skirt bottom, perfect for hiding all those little imperfections. Casual, fun and flirty, just perfect for those tropical destinations. Add a classic white shirt and enjoy your cruise port excursion. Finally for Celebration Evening after buying my mum the most spectacular dress (I’ll save the best until last), I knew I needed to up my game.

Choose a breathable fabric like cotton to stay cool and comfortable. Your cruise ship is a floating city waiting to be explored, and good walking shoes are your passport to it. Pick a pair that is both supportive and comfortable, because there’s a world of fun to discover on and off the ship. Why limit yourself to pants when skirts can offer versatility and a flattering silhouette? Opt for A-line skirt styles that are knee-length or longer. They can be dressed up with a stylish blouse for dinner or dressed down with a T-shirt for casual outings.

plus size clothes for cruise

You can do laundry aboard the ship, and rotate the clothes you bring by mixing and matching outfits. Remember, your stateroom will probably be small so you don’t want to fill it with luggage beyond what you can fit under the bed and in the closet. Most cruise ships don’t have a limit on the luggage you can bring, but if you’re flying to your departure port, airlines do have limitations. Look for clothing with SPF and complement your outfits with sun hats, visors, and sunglasses. Are you in the phase of preparing for your already booked cruise vacation? Going on a cruise marks the beginning of an exciting journey filled with adventure and relaxation.

This flowy top is so pretty and flattering and can be worn on a cruise for daytime or night. However, I love a deep blue dress when I’m cruising, so I always pack at least one of this color. Please note that this dress runs a little small, so you may want to size up. Always check the specific dress code and guidelines provided by the cruise line, as it can vary.

Nothing is better than this dress for a shore excursion; if you sweat a lot, this is ideal for you. I know curvy women hate tight dresses because they restrict movement and physical comfort. Our cruise toiletries packing list will help you organize your toiletry bag and work out what toiletries to pack for a cruise. On a cruise, where luggage space may be limited, selecting versatile and impactful accessories can add variety and flair to your wardrobe without overpacking. Swimwear and beachwear are essential components of your cruise wardrobe, offering both function and fashion as you enjoy the sun and sea.

If you’re packing light and don’t have a lot of room in your suitcase, here are some of our favorite accessories to bring. Dainty gold jewelry like earrings, necklaces and bracelets can easily fit in your carryon, and they also add a glamorous look to every outfit. You can strategically pack a floppy hat in your suitcase by laying it upside down and packing around it. Select a swimsuit that is not only comfortable but also stylish, offering support and ample coverage. Pack a versatile cover-up in a solid color that compliments all the swimwear you decide to bring. This lavender piece pairs seamlessly with black, purples, various shades of blues, whites, and even light yellows.

So here are some essential plus-size outfits that you must pack for the Alaskan cruise. Versatility is another factor I have mentioned; always go for dresses that can be mixed and matched easily. In this way, you can change the style every time with fewer pieces. If you want to look socialite during posh evening parties, this flare dress seems ideal for you.

It just happens that I’m turning 50 this summer, but I would wear these cruise outfits at 40 and at 60, and every age in between. When shopping for women’s plus size cruise clothing, I look for style, comfort and fit. Spending your time adjusting clothes that are either too tight or too loose, will take away from your cruise pleasure, feeling comfortable is key to confidence. Thankfully these days when looking for cruise wear, swimsuits come in so many pretty figure flattering and sexy designs.

With these essentials, you’ll be ready to enjoy your cruise to the fullest, from sunrise to sunset and beyond. And please don’t forget to leave a note in the comments to let me know how you got on. Or even better still, if you have any tips of your own, please share them with us as well. This means understanding your body shape and choosing pieces that highlight your favorite features while also providing coverage in all the right places. I’m Morag and I’ve been cruising alongside my husband Alan since our honeymoon in 2007.

A great-looking dress for formal night and date nights everywhere. Available in 7 solid colors and 6 printed patterns, this casual top is a great pairing for shorts, skirts, jeans and more. Dozens of colors and prints available in this cute, sexy bathing suit set.

Crystal Serenity Itinerary, Current Position, Ship Review

crystal serenity cruise ship

It's an eatery that was on Crystal Serenity for many years before its overhaul, and it has thankfully made a comeback under the ship's new owners — albeit with an all-new look. The main dining room on the vessel, and the spot where you'll eat at least a few, if not most, of your dinners, is Waterside. On Deck 5, just off the ship's central plaza, it serves up what the line calls modern international cuisine for dinner in an elegant setting. As is typical for a (relatively) small luxury vessel, Crystal Serenity doesn't have a huge number of eateries. Nor are there so many bars that you won't have time to get to them all on a typical cruise. That sort of too-much-is-never-enough excess is the realm of the big mass-market ships.

CRYSTAL EXPLORER FARE OFFER

Other eateries on Crystal Serenity include Marketplace, a casual buffet, and The Trident Grill, serving cooked-to-order burgers and hot sandwiches. Both are steps away from the ship's main pool on Deck 12, as is Tastes Kitchen & Bar. The latter serves a mix of classic lunch dishes from around the world at lunchtime — everything from stir-fried egg noodles and a grilled Reuben sandwich to chicken quesadillas and a shrimp Caesar salad. Like Umi Uma, Osteria d'Ovidio only can be visited once per cruise for free for sailings of 11 days or fewer. After that, there's a $50 per person charge to dine there on a space-available basis. If you want additional reservations at Umi Uma, you can sign up for another turn, on a space-available basis, for $50 per person.

Crystal Life Fitness

The bathroom toiletries, too, were high-end, made by Italian luxury purveyor Ortigia Sicilia with scents of Italian wildflowers. With its passenger count down, its crew-to-passenger ratio is also through the roof at around 1-to-1. Unveiled in 2003, the 68,870-ton Crystal Serenity has been made even more luxurious during an overhaul in dry dock that was so long — around six months — that it allowed for an almost complete rebuilding of significant parts of the ships. Now, after an 18-month absence from the luxury cruising scene, Crystal Serenity is back and — dare I say — better than before. We were impressed with the care waiters and chefs took with orders for those with allergies and food sensitivities.

Bars and Restaurants

Crystal Serenity was launched after Crystal Harmony (1990, now NYK Asuka 2) and followed by Crystal Symphony (1995). In response to demand, Crystal Serenity had twice as many Penthouses in comparison to the fleetmate. There are two paddle tennis courts (instead of one) as boat devotees are fiercely competitive in this field. We are tracking and are calculationg it's position based on its itinerary. Aquamarine Veranda Suite

On longer voyages (12+ days) are offered two complimentary reservations per person. At a massive 1,265 square feet, the Crystal Penthouse Suite is a sprawling lair with an entrance foyer, a plush living room, a bathroom with a Duravit spa tub overlooking the ocean, and a butler’s kitchen. But the redesigned Junior Crystal Penthouse Suites are nothing to scoff at either, with an impressive 645 square feet of space spanning separate living and dining areas and a roomy bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom. On selected evenings before and after dinner, this entertainment lounge features dancing, production spot shows, cabaret performances and other themed events.

After glasses of cold vermentino, we dug into pasta in a light cream sauce topped with freshly grated truffles, followed by a truffle-covered fried egg. A few days later, on Corsica, a bus whisked a group of us to Domaine Orsini, for a wine tasting and a relaxing stint on the covered patio overlooking the island. And before I disembarked the ship in Barcelona, I crashed an evening excursion to the trendy El Born neighborhood, where our 10-person group shared a barrage of Spanish tortilla, patatas bravas, and croquetas at Tapeo. At the back of the same deck is yet another major entertainment venue, the Stardust Club. It's a more versatile entertainment lounge with a stage and large dance floor that offers a mix of dancing, cabaret performances and other themed events.

Both vessels (being under arrest in Freeport Bahamas since February 5th) were sold via a sealed tender auction, with bids submitted to The Bahamas' Supreme Court and a 10% deposit. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. I spotted caviar on a few of the menus on board, but there’s also an in-room caviar service with a range of Kolikof offerings. Not at check-in, but by the time we docked in Boston the next day, Serenity felt like a place where, well, everybody knows your name.

Crystal Symphony restarts cruises after refurbishment under the new A&K ownership

Called Pulse, it doesn't get going until around midnight, assuming anyone on board is still up for it. Speaking of dancing, Crystal is one of the few cruise lines in the world that still sails with "ambassador hosts" — older gentlemen who are on hand to dance with single ladies on board. For a bar with a view, you'll want to head up to the faux palm tree-filled Palm Court & Sunset Bar, which is at the top of the ship on Deck 12 overlooking the bow. We're talking such dishes as sauteed tiger prawns with creamed orzo, broccolini and candied bacon; or broiled lemon sole floating in a shallow dill-and-cockles chowder with snow peas and confit potatoes. More traditional items, such as grilled black Angus sirloin steak with Bearnaise sauce, also appear on the menu, which changes nightly. The solo cabins, which I wasn't able to see, are also an entirely new category of cabin for the ship.

This way, the 7-night Luxury Bahamas Escapes itinerary offered 3x embarkation ports - Nassau (Saturdays departures), North Bimini (Sundays), Miami (Mondays). Oceanview and Balcony cabins have a seating area, 2 twin beds (convertible to queen), bathroom (bathtub, shower). The Crystal Serenity cruise ship cabins page is conveniently interlinked with its deck plans showing deck layouts combined with a legend and review of all onboard venues. The fitness center is massive and fully equipped—I spent many hours there trying to deflect the inevitable pounds I amassed at the nine restaurants. There are a host of complimentary classes and tests on offer, and you can also book sessions with the personal trainer.

The spa has a gorgeous, light-wood sauna with a picture window — perhaps my favorite place to watch the world go by — and an extensive treatment menu. I was extremely impressed with my dynamic biotech resurfacing facial and noticed the effects of the healing LED blue-light mask, which dissolves dead skin, for a full week after the treatment. Crystal enlisted leading cruise ship architectural firm, GEM, to guide the redesign of select guestrooms and suites. Accommodations feature neutral tones and high-end fixtures, complemented by subtle hues of pastel colors that resonate with the color of the ocean. Elevated details, contemporary craftsmanship, and artisanal finishes embody modern refinement, while the spacious layouts maximize in-room relaxation. But after a major overhaul in early 2023, part of a relaunch of the Crystal brand under new owners, it's back to being one of the leading luxury ships at sea.

Bars and lounge are spread throughout the ship, and there are ample options no matter the time of day or experience sought. Unparalleled choice, including the only Nobu restaurant at sea, dining aboard Crystal is an unforgettable experience. Segment Grand Voyage prices (double occupancy) started at USD 2700 pp, with promo offers inclusive of USD 1000 pp (Book Now Savings), 2,5% (Crystal Society savings), 2% (New-to-Crystal savings), 5% (B2B/Back-to-Back cruise savings). Leaving from Los Angeles on January 11th (2026), the 135-day itinerary visits a total of 72 ports/destinations in 27 countries, ending in Civitavecchia-Rome on May 26th. During the 2016 drydock (May), the ship received overhauls of all Penthouse Suites.

There are no inside accommodations on the 545-room Crystal Serenity — even the entry-level offering has an ocean view. The smallest rooms, at 215 square feet, are the doubles with an ocean view, singles with an ocean view, and doubles with a veranda. The redesigned suites are chic and spacious and have plenty of nooks for pictures, and the ocean views from all directions on the ship make for countless dreamy backdrops. I spied a few influencers aboard my sailing and let’s just say they had a blast shooting glamorous pictures in the Hollywood Theater, Palm Court, poolside hot tub, and numerous bars. The majority of Crystal Serenity’s guest rooms and suites have a veranda, but the two lowest-priced categories, each offering 215 square feet of space, are solely ocean-view.

Cigarette smoking (including electronic cigarettes and personal vaporizers) is only allowed outdoors in designated areas at the back of decks 8, 9, 10 and 11; in a small corner of the main Seahorse Pool area on Deck 12; and at the Connoisseur Club on Deck 6. From September 2023 through January 2024, Crystal Serenity will be based in North America for sailings to New England, Canada and the Caribbean.
